In his departure statement, Mr Modi expressed confidence that his visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic would further strengthen India’s strategic partnerships in Central Asia. He said that in recent years, the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership has witnessed significant advancement.
During his visit to Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister said he looks forward to discussions with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on further deepening cooperation in trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy. The talks will also focus on advancing the shared visions of Viksit Bharat and Yangi Uzbekistan.
Mr Modi will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. He said the visits are a tribute to the close cultural and people-to-people ties that bind India and Uzbekistan.
From Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister will travel to Bishkek at the invitation of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to participate in the 26th SCO Summit.
Mr Modi said he looks forward to advancing India’s vision for the region, anchored in Security, Connectivity and Opportunity, and to working with fellow members towards a region free from the scourge of terrorism, separatism and extremism, which continue to threaten peace and stability in the neighbourhood and beyond.
During his visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, the Prime Minister will also meet President Zhaparov and other SCO leaders. He will further attend the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.
The four-day visit will bring India’s strategic engagement with Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic into focus, alongside the Prime Minister’s participation in the 26th SCO Summit and the 6th World Nomad Games.
